Efficacy

Good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle can have a positive effect on fertility and childbirth. For example, adequate intake of essential nutrients, such as folic acid, in the periconceptual period may reduce the incidence of neural tube defects.

Vitamins, minerals and specific cofactors play a major role in fertility function. The following: vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folic acid, vitamin E, multivitamins, magnesium, selenium, iron and zinc have been shown to improve fertility in women. Antioxidants can be helpful in reducing oxidative stress for ovum, sperm and reproductive organs. Vitamins C and E and N-acetyl-L-cysteine are usually used for this purpose. The amino acid L-arginine helps to improve circulation to the reproductive organs, which can enhance ovum development and embryo implantation.
